DESCRIPTION:The Montana State Music Teachers Association invites you to att
 end the premiere of "Roots/Routes". Commissioned by MSMTA\, Philip Aaberg 
 will perform this piece in concert on Friday\, October 25 at Petro Theater
  at MSU Billings. This concert is presented as part of the 2019 MSMTA Annu
 al Conference.\n\nThis solo piano event is open to the public\, tickets ar
 e specially priced at $10 and available on the MSMTA site at: Recital Tick
 ets - Philip Aaberg\n\nPhilip will speak from the stage about "Roots/Route
 s" at the premiere\, but here's a tiny preview:\n\n"My background as a com
 poser is diverse\, encompassing high levels of folk\, rock\, jazz\, the cl
 assical European and American traditions\, contemporary electronic chamber
 \, and world music. I immediately envisioned a piece that would pay tribut
 e to this diversity in themes\, compositional devices\, and quodlibet\, bo
 th hiding and in plain sight. This is the 'roots' aspect of music\, while 
 the 'routes' would be the linear structure\, whose intersections or juncti
 ons would arrive seamlessly through metric and genre modulations" - Philip
